Memmingen visits each other –
An open day for everybody
July 9, from 2:00 p.m.
Up to now, the format of open days is only used by companies or institutions.
MM OPEN is an open day exclusively for the residents of a whole city, for direct encouters between poeple, besides smartphones or computers.
On the 9th of July you will find impovised tables and chairs infront of houses, in patios, garages, gardens or in appartments to welcome guests and talk.
A map indicates the participating locations.
Guests from outside Memmingen are welcome!
Due to the impressive tradition of Memmingen, the first city in Europe in which Rights of Liberty had been formulated in 12 articles in 1525, conversation on this day will focus on nowaday’s utopia of liberty.

PROMETHEUS AGAIN
A videoproject by UTOPIA TOOLBOX
The video aims to create an image of warmth against the coldness of our society in so many respects: communication, work, economy. It deals with the meataphor of the fire as a motor, as the energy and incitement to ones own creativity in designing our society.
Prometheus is said to be a ‘mastermind’ [transl.], a the carrier of fire, as an archetype of the courageous rebel who initiated the liberation from nescience. The same time he is a symbol of the ambivalence of progress in science and technology.
What are we burning for?
Public screenings on facades of museums will share the video with nightly passers-by.

This is the last volume of the series of UTOPIA TOOLBOX books.
Its content deals – particularly in our current times – with the poetry of the unimposing, the inconspicuous, the ignored, the ineffective, the ‘worthless’, the strenght of the weak.
And, beyond all content it puts the question: Can people, a nation survive who lost its poetry?

A cooperation of UTOPIA TOOLBOX with Staatstheater Augsburg
OBDACH|SHELTER is an art project intersecting with social commitment. It deals with the issue of homelessness in our societies. How do we imagine a social utopia of housing for everybody? What can art contribute to a change? House 0 is an upstream research station to the OBDACH|SHELTER project – for everybody. You can book yourself for free into the house and reflect the subject of housing/security/homelessness during this period of time. Staatstheater Augsburg chose this subject as their motto ‘Eigensein’ for the season 2020|21.
The results of all reflections will be open to the public in an exhibition at Staatstheater Augsburg, likely in June 2021.

ULM OPEN
A city sees each other.
Up to now we only know OPEN DAYS hosted by institutions or companies who open their doors for the public. ULM OPEN is a special day exclusively for the inhabitants of the city of Ulm. It is a day of encounters behind open front- and flat-doors aiming to bring people into real contact to each other.
Finally, ULM OPEN suggests more than just a nice cup of coffee together. On this occacion, the project likes to encourage people to exchange their future dreams of a society they want to live in.

A Future Ministry for Dreams and Utopias

The UTOPIA TOOLBOX Container, a temporary ‘ministry for future dreams’ will be in the City of Ulm for two weeks in June/July.
Are we still dreaming of a better world? How would it look like?
How do you want to live in the future – as an individual, as a society, ob the globe?
And above all: What can we even do today to come one step closer to our dream?
Everybody is invited to share their hopes and dreams in the „Utopia Toolbox“
container.
Share your visions and ideas for the future with us !
The Container is placed on a sloping plane allowing the physical experience of our currently imbalanced world. Corresponding with the TOOLBOX, UTOPIA is moving up and down the southern tower of the Ulm Cathedral close by.
See you around the container!
Opening hours: 12 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily [exept for Sundays]
After the project, one idea will be selected and realised.
